Nib & Ink by Chiara Perano

My second book review for you is “Nib + Ink“ by Chiara Perano. This was the second calligraphy book that I ever bought, and to this day I recommend it to all of my beginners.

There really is nothing in my opinion at fault with this book, it covers all the topics that I feel are essential and not to be bypassed - how to hold your pen, the angles to write out, what nibs to use - it’s all discussed at the beginning.

What can I take away from this book?

Perano is a calligrapher who demonstrates her calligraphic skill and how to create her lettering styles through pages of letter variations and demonstrations. Her modern calligraphy is beautiful, bouncy and perfect for those looking for a little challenge and wanting to discover how to write a character a different way. My favourite part of this book is all of the projects at the back, there are tons of ideas and great lettering layouts that really inspire. Really for me this is a 10/10 book.
